John Mateyko, APMA®, WMCP™, RICP®, is a seasoned Fiduciary Financial Planner and Managing Partner at IDEX Financial, where he leads with a mission to simplify financial planning and empower clients to make confident, informed decisions. His expertise has earned him recognition in top-tier outlets such as Forbes, Fortune, MarketWatch, Business Insider, TED, NY Weekly, CEO Weekly, LA Wire, Chicago Journal, San Francisco Post, and BuzzFeed—a reflection of his standing as a trusted voice in modern wealth management.

A proud graduate of Augustana College, Class of 1998, John began his career at Dean Witter in New York in 1999, immersing himself in one of the world’s most dynamic financial markets. Over the years, he refined his skills as a Financial Advisor, working with respected institutions including Atlas Securities, US Bancorp, Chase, and Fifth Third Securities, gaining deep insights into investment strategy, portfolio management, and client advocacy.

In 2010, John founded IDEX Financial, establishing its first office in the renowned Zurich Towers of Schaumburg, Illinois. What began as a boutique financial practice grew rapidly under his leadership, expanding into Atlanta, Georgia, in 2018. Today, IDEX Financial stands as a trusted firm known for its fiduciary values, personalized service, and forward-thinking approach to financial strategy.

John’s pursuit of knowledge remains a cornerstone of his professional life. He is currently working toward the CIMA certification through the Yale School of Management, further strengthening his expertise in investment consulting and portfolio management. His credentials include the RICP® and WMCP™ designations from the American College of Financial Planning, and the APMA® from the College for Financial Planning—credentials that reflect both discipline and dedication to continuous learning.

Outside the world of finance, John finds purpose in community and creativity. He lives in Serenbe, Georgia, a picturesque and sustainable community that blends nature, art, and connection. Inspired by its spirit, he founded the Serenbe Athletic Association in 2021, where he serves as Commissioner for co-ed Chicago-style Softball and Kickball leagues. His involvement in youth sports began long before, coaching basketball in Schiller Park, Illinois (2008–2013) and continuing to mentor young athletes in Serenbe (2020–2021).

John’s artistic pursuits are equally dynamic. His experience as Christian Bale’s part-time stand-in on the sets of Batman Begins (2005) and Public Enemies (2009) sparked a lasting passion for storytelling and performance. That creative energy led him to establish the SMZ Community Theater Group, dedicated to raising funds for Acton Academy in Serenbe. Since its founding, the group has raised over $451,000, bringing to life productions such as The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge (2021) and It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play (set for December 2023).

On the personal front, John’s life is filled with adventure and family joy. He proposed to his wife Slavyana at the enchanting Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, and together they celebrated their honeymoon across the Amalfi Coast, Rome, and Lake Como. Their son, Sasha, carries on the family’s love for travel and discovery, attending summer camp at TASIS in Lugano, Switzerland.

A passionate outdoorsman, John has explored some of the world’s most breathtaking destinations through scuba diving—from the Philippines and Hawaii to Mexico, Costa Rica, Italy, Portugal, and even the Georgia Aquarium’s whale shark exhibit. His adventurous spirit has also taken him to the Midwinters San Francisco Bay Race, where he was part of the Beneteau 50 foredeck crew that claimed victory, and down the exhilarating slopes of the Haleakala volcano in Maui on a thrilling bike descent.
