With over 20 years of experience in financial planning and investment, John Mateyko has built a distinguished career marked by expertise, growth, and community impact. A 1998 graduate of Augustana College, where he studied business and philosophy, Mateyko began his financial career in 1999 at Dean Witter in New York City. This early experience laid a strong foundation, leading to roles at prominent institutions including Atlas Securities, US Bancorp, Chase, and Fifth Third Securities. At each stop, his ability to build client relationships, manage sizable portfolios, and drive profitability earned him top-performer status.
In 2010, Mateyko took a bold entrepreneurial step by founding IDEX Financial in the Zurich Towers of Schaumburg, Illinois. Under his leadership, the firm expanded its reach in 2018 with the acquisition of a financial planning practice in Atlanta, Georgia—solidifying its presence in the Southeast.
Mateyko’s credentials reflect his unwavering commitment to professional growth and fiduciary excellence. He is a Wealth Management Certified Professional (WMCP), a Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP), and an Accredited Portfolio Management Advisor (APMA). He is currently advancing his education through the Yale School of Management in pursuit of the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation. Outside the office, Mateyko’s impact is equally impressive. He is a pillar in the Serenbe community, having founded the Serenbe Athletic Association in 2021. As Commissioner, he leads co-ed leagues for Chicago-style softball and kickball—fostering local camaraderie and fitness. He’s also a strong advocate for the arts. A part-time stand-in for Christian Bale on the sets of Batman Begins (2005) and Public Enemies (2009), Mateyko later founded the SMZ Community Theater Group. The group has since raised over $451,000 to support Acton Academy in Serenbe, blending creativity with purpose.
His zest for life extends to global adventures with his wife Slavyana. From a fairytale proposal at Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany to getaways across the Amalfi Coast, Lake Como, and Rome, their shared journey has been full of exploration and romance. An avid diver, Mateyko has explored underwater worlds in the Philippines, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Mexico, Portugal, Italy, and even the whale shark exhibit at the Georgia Aquarium. He also contributed to a victorious foredeck crew during the Midwinters San Francisco Bay Race—adding sailing to his diverse list of interests.
