John Mateyko, APMA®, WMCP™, RICP®, is a Fiduciary Financial Planner and Managing Partner at IDEX Financial. His expertise and leadership have been featured in leading publications including Forbes, Fortune, MarketWatch, Business Insider, TED, NY Weekly, CEO Weekly, LA Wire, Chicago Journal, San Francisco Post, and BuzzFeed.

A Career Built on Experience

After graduating from Augustana College in 1998, John launched his financial career at Dean Witter in New York City in 1999. Over the next decade, he built a strong foundation as a Financial Advisor with firms such as Atlas Securities, US Bancorp, Chase, and Fifth Third Securities.

In 2010, John founded IDEX Financial with headquarters at Zurich Towers in Schaumburg, IL. The firm’s success led to a major milestone in 2018—the acquisition of a financial planning practice in Atlanta, Georgia. Dedicated to continuous learning, John is currently pursuing the CIMA certification at the Yale School of Management and has earned professional designations including APMA®, WMCP™, and RICP®.

Beyond Finance

John’s life outside of work is filled with community, creativity, and adventure. In Serenbe, Georgia, where he resides, he founded the Serenbe Athletic Association in 2021 and serves as Commissioner for co-ed softball and kickball leagues. He has also dedicated time to youth sports, coaching basketball in both Illinois (2008–2013) and Georgia (2020–2021).

A lifelong supporter of the arts, John once worked as a part-time stand-in for Christian Bale in Batman Begins (2005) and Public Enemies (2009). His passion for theater and giving back inspired him to establish the SMZ Community Theater Group, which has raised over $451,000 for Acton Academy in Serenbe. As a director and producer, he has staged plays such as The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge (2021) and is preparing It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play (December 2023).

Family, Travel, and Adventure

John and his wife, Slavyana, became engaged at Germany’s Neuschwanstein Castle and honeymooned along Italy’s Amalfi Coast, with visits to Rome and Lake Como. Together with their son, Sasha, they continue to explore Europe regularly, where Sasha attends summer camp at TASIS in Lugano, Switzerland.

An adventurer at heart, John has gone scuba diving in the Philippines, Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, Italy, Portugal, and even alongside whale sharks at the Georgia Aquarium. His accomplishments also include winning the Midwinters San Francisco Bay Race as part of the Beneteau 50 sailing crew and biking down the Haleakala volcano in Maui.
