With over 20 years of experience, John Mateyko has built a distinguished career in financial planning and investment management. Currently living in the unique rural community of Serenbe, Georgia, Mateyko’s professional journey began after graduating from Augustana College in 1998, where he studied business and philosophy. Today, he is a respected Accredited Fiduciary Financial Planner and Managing Partner at IDEX Financial.
Mateyko launched his career at Dean Witter in New York City in 1999, setting the stage for future success across renowned institutions such as Atlas Securities, US Bancorp, Chase, and Fifth Third Securities. His exceptional ability to attract clients, manage significant portfolios, and drive consistent growth positioned him among the top performers at every organization he served.
In 2010, Mateyko founded IDEX Financial at Zurich Towers in Schaumburg, Illinois. His entrepreneurial spirit led to further expansion in 2018 when he acquired a financial planning practice in Atlanta, Georgia, extending IDEX’s presence into the Southeast.
A strong advocate for lifelong learning, Mateyko has earned multiple prestigious designations, including Wealth Management Certified Professional (WMCP), Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP), and Accredited Portfolio Management Advisor (APMA). He is currently pursuing his CIMA designation through the Yale School of Management. These certifications, awarded by esteemed institutions like the College for Financial Planning and The American College of Financial Services, reflect his commitment to excellence and continuous professional growth.
Outside his financial career, Mateyko is a dynamic community leader. In 2021, he founded the Serenbe Athletic Association, where he serves as Commissioner for the co-ed leagues of Chicago-style Softball and Kickball. His passion for the arts is equally notable—he worked as Christian Bale’s part-time stand-in for Batman Begins (2005) and Public Enemies (2009), and later founded the SMZ Community Theater Group, which has raised an impressive $451,000 to support Acton Academy in Serenbe.
John’s adventures span the globe. Alongside his wife, Slavyana—whom he proposed to at the fairytale-like Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany—he has traveled to stunning destinations including the Amalfi Coast, Rome, and Lake Como. A lover of the outdoors, he has gone scuba diving in the Philippines, Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, Italy, Portugal, and even in the whale shark exhibit at the Georgia Aquarium. He was also part of the victorious foredeck crew during the Midwinters Race in San Francisco Bay.
